Methylmercury in Flood-Control Impoundments and Natural Waters of Northwestern Minnesota

Project Objectives
  • Determine whether high levels of methylmercury (MeHg) are being produced as a result of creation of the Good Lake impoundment in May 1996
  • Compare these levels with other nearby bog lakes and other northwestern Minnesota impoundments
  • Attempt to decipher what is at the root of the reservoir mercury methylation effect
